Who Is The church of Christ?

When the Bible speaks of the church, it speaks of far more than just a building. The church is people, God's people.

We believe
in God our Father who created the universe, our world and everything good, right and perfect in it (Gen. 1:1; Jas. 1:17)
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God; that he died on the cross for the remission of our sins; that he was buried in a tomb and raised to life on the third day (John 3:16; 1 Co. 15:1-4)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person in the Godhead, who inspired the apostles and their associates to compose the Holy Scriptures (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)
We seek to follow the Bible in all matters of faith and practice (Col. 3:17)
We seek to worship God according to the New Testament and to the example of the New Testament church. We meet upon the first day of every week or Sunday (1 Co. 16:2), partake of the Lord's Supper upon the first day of every week (Acts 20:7), sing with a cappella music (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16), give upon the first day of every week as we have been prospered (1 Cor. 16:2), preach and teach the Bible as our only doctrine (2 Tim. 4:2), and close our prayers in the name of Jesus (John 14:14).
We seek to be organized as the New Testament church was organized with elders and deacons (Phil. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Tit. 1:5-9).
We seek to be called Christians and a church of Christ because of what the New Testament reveals to us (Acts 11:26; Rom. 16:16).
We seek to be saved and to teach a plan of salvation as taught and practiced in the New Testament. We believe we must hear the Word of God (Rom. 10:17), believe that Jesus is the Son of God (Mark 16:16), repent of our sins (Acts 2:38), confess Jesus as the Son of God (Acts 8:37), be immersed in water for the remission of our sins and to be added to the church (Acts 2:38, 41, 47), and finally to live faithfully by the teachings of the Bible (Luke 9:23). This is what we believe it means to “call upon the name of the Lord in order to be saved” (Rom. 10:13; Acts 2:21, 38; 22:16).
We seek to love one another as Jesus loved us because our Lord teaches us that by this love all men will know that we are his disciples (John 13:34-35).

What To Expect
Click here to find out what to expect when you visit one of our worship assemblies

When you visit the Double Springs Church of Christ, you will be treated as our honored guest. People will shake your hand and introduce themselves. We will try to make you feel welcome.

Jesus said. "God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth." Because of our confidence in the Bible, we pattern our worship after the teaching of the New Testament. We observe the Lord's Supper every Sunday like the apostles taught the early church (Acts 20:7, I Corinthians 11:23-26). We give of our money each Sunday as Paul taught in ( I Corinthians 16:1-2). We pray and study the Bible just as you would expect. Everyone joins in our enthusiastic acapella singing, seeking to obey (Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16).

Every effort is made to make our Bible classes interesting, biblical and enjoyable. We have classes for all ages. Our Youth Groups are very active in spiritual activities, service projects and fun stuff too!
In our age many people ridicule or ignore the Bible. From our pulpit you will hear a respect for the Bible. Every sermon is scripture filled, practical, and easy to understand. You are encouraged to read along and study for yourself the things that are taught in our assembly. You can rest assured that you will never be embarrassed.

The Double Springs Church of Christ is led by elders and served by deacons who are committed to the word of God. Our Bible school is staffed by teachers who are enthusiastic and uphold the truth of God's inspired book. We follow no creed or teaching not found in the Bible. For this reason we are committed to never adding to or taking away from the word of God.

We set no man-made standards for church membership. In order to be saved, you must turn from your sins in repentance (Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30-31). You must confess Jesus as the Son of God (Acts 8:37, Romans 10:9-10). And you must, as an act of faith, be baptized for the remission of your sins (Acts 2:38 & 22:16, I Peter 3:21). At this point, the Lord will add you to His Church (Acts 2:47); and the joys of salvation will be yours.
